One of the world's most beautiful words

When I learned that kaitiakitanga had been recognised as one of the world's most beautiful words, I felt incredibly proud.

Kaitiakitanga is often translated as guardianship or stewardship, but its meaning reaches much deeper.

It reminds us that we are all connected to the people, places and natural world around us, and that we each have a responsibility to care for them so they may continue to flourish for generations to come.

This is our small way of celebrating that beautiful whakaaro.
